It can be fun and challenging to chase a hen or rooster around a yard, but do not spend all day trying to chase down an elusive hen or rooster.
When it gets dark outside, the chickens set out for their safe place to hunker down and get some sleep. They are easy to manage once it is dark and they have settled down.
There are techniques that can be used such as distracting them with food, chasing them into a corner, and if you can get them to jump up onto something higher than groundlevel it opens up an opportunity for an easier catch.
The fastest and hardest to catch is our Japanese Bantam hen Greta.
Our silkie hen Ashley takes second place at avoiding capture.
